Flood barrier defences
Anti-flood preservation works adhering to strict English Heritage and York Archaeological Trust conditions on a Scheduled Ancient Monument originally built in 1300AD. Expert diving teams used to remove an existing freshwater inlet from the River Ouse. Cellars tanked + mass filled with lean design mix concrete to allow archaeologists future access. Flood barriers fitted to Lendal Bridge and Dame Judi Dench Walk + safeguarding sited on reinforced concrete foundations, designed to withstand flood water loadings.
